Aurobindo’s Generic of Xanax XR Approved by FDA

The Food and Drug Administration June 7 approved Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.’s generic alprazolam extended-release tablets, a generic of Xanax XR, the company announced in a June 8 statement.

Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.’s newly approved generic of alprazolam is used, like Xanax XR, to treat patients who have panic disorder, either with or without agoraphobia. The company said it will provide the drug in 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 2 mg, and 3 mg strengths, just like the reference drug, which is a Pfizer product.
