Amazon May Sell Generic Drugs as Soon as October, Cleveland Says

Amazon is likely to make a “more meaningful move” into U.S. pharmacies over the next six to 12 months, targeting Prime customers willing to pay cash for generic drugs -- likely the uninsured or those with high deductibles, Cleveland Research analyst Rob Eich wrote in a note to clients.

  • Eich is also hearing AMZN is looking at tele- and self-service pharmacies “along with leveraging their lockers as potential dispensing options,” and exploring “fringe markets like discount cards, correctional facilities, LTC, and nursing homes”
