PFAS should be banned from firefighting foams, according to a European Chemicals Agency committee opinion that moves a proposed EU restriction one step closer to adoption.
The Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) on March 24 backed a proposed restriction on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced Wednesday.
That committee’s support bolsters the conclusion reached by ECHA’s Committee for Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC), which released its draft opinion supporting a ban earlier this month. The opinion is open for comment through May 15.
