Firefighter Protections Join Slew of PFAS Legislation in Senate

Senators on both sides of the aisle are supporting a new bill that would protect firefighters from exposure to chemicals in firefighting foam.

Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.), who is ranking member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, as well as Sens. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) and Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) introduced a bill Aug. 1 that would ask the Federal Emergency Management Agency to educate firefighters and first responders on how to reduce their exposure to potentially harmful chemicals in aqueous film-forming foam.
