US Seeks Death Penalty for Mangione in Insurance CEO Case (2)

Attorney General Pam Bondi has directed federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty for Luigi Mangione, the man accused of murdering UnitedHealth Group Inc. executive Brian Thompson.

Mangione’s case represents the first time the Justice Department has decided to seek the death penalty during Trump’s second term. Mangione is scheduled to go on trial first on murder charges in New York state, which hasn’t executed a convicted felon in more than 60 years.
