Uber Group Spends $8M in Insurance Fight
The brewing lobbying battle over Gov. Kathy Hochul’s auto insurance proposals is spilling into public view at the state Capitol.
I’m Raga Justin, the Bloomberg Government reporter based in Albany. Uber-backed Citizens for Affordable Rates has spent $8 million so far to support Hochul’s proposal to curb staged insurance fraud and cap payouts from motor vehicle crashes. And earlier this week, members of the New York Trial Lawyers’ Association were in Albany dissuading lawmakers from accepting the governor’s pitch.
