Trump Taps Clayton as Interim Top US Prosecutor in Manhattan

President Donald Trump said that Jay Clayton, his pick for US attorney for the Southern District of New York, would serve in the role on an interim basis while his administration seeks to secure his Senate confirmation.

Trump made the announcement in a post to his Truth Social network on Wednesday, noting that he had announced his intention to nominate Clayton, a former Securities and Exchange Commission chairman, to the post in November and citing Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s plans to block the nomination.
