Hochul Faces Friction on Crash Damage Caps
Gov. Kathy Hochul’s Uber-backed bid to lower insurance rates by overhauling auto litigation is holding up the budget as trial lawyers and their allies resist the plan, Raga Justin reports.
Hochul is seeking to narrow the definition of “serious injury” in motor vehicle injuries, limit non-economic loss recovery for claimants with serious injuries, and cap non-economic damages for certain accidents at $100,000.
