The In-Demand Course at Local Schools: Immigration Law

Last November, then-Touro Law Center student and Student Bar Association leader Joshua Stickell won asylum status for a client he represented as part of the school’s immigration law clinic. The next day, Donald Trump, who ran on a platform of cracking down on immigration and upping deportations, was declared the winner of the presidential election.

Fellow Touro students began approaching Stickell and immigration law clinic director Mauricio Noroña about how they could get involved in the clinic. Some were excited about the possibility of getting hands-on legal experience. Others were motivated by the results of the presidential election.
