Sean “Diddy” Combs offered to post a $50 million bond to get out of jail, the music mogul’s latest effort to be released ahead of his October sentencing on prostitution charges.
“The exceptional nature of prosecuting and incarcerating a person convicted of paying for sex services to be provided to his girlfriend” as well as the conditions he’s facing in jail, are “exceptional reasons that justify release,” Combs’ attorneys said in a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian Tuesday.
The bond would be secured by Combs’ Miami home, the letter said. As part of the bail agreement, Combs would stay in Florida except for attorney meetings in New York, the letter also said.
Combs was acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering at a federal trial earlier this month but found guilty of transporting people to engage in prostitution. The two prostitution charges carry 10-year maximum sentences each but Combs lawyers have argued that sentencing guidelines call for much less.
Subramanian rejected Combs’ request to be released on $1 million bond immediately after the jury verdict, citing concerns about Combs posing a danger to the community and saying exceptional circumstances didn’t warrant his release. Manhattan federal prosecutors had opposed Combs’ request.
Prosecutors haven’t responded to the $50 million offer. Combs’ sentencing is set for Oct. 3.
The case is United States v. Combs, S.D.N.Y., No. 1:24-cr-00542, 7/29/25.
(Updated with terms of offer in third paragraph. An earlier version corrected the month of the trial.)
