Private Bus Operator Boxcar Ramps Up as NJ Transit Strike Looms

Private bus operator Boxcar Inc. aims to ramp up service as a potential New Jersey Transit rail workers strike threatens to strand commuters as early as May 16.

Boxcar, which currently shuttles about 2,000 riders in and out of New York from New Jersey’s suburbs every day, expects to nearly triple its capacity to account for up to 6,000 riders if the strike kicks off, the company announced Monday.
