The US Department of Transportation is allocating $4.7 billion to renovate New York City’s Penn Station and Washington’s Union Station, providing funds to enhance two iconic East Coast transportation hubs.

In addition, the money will go toward streamlining passenger rail service, rebuilding bridge infrastructure and other renovations in Amtrak’s Northeast corridor, according to a statement from Transportation Department Secretary Sean Duffy.

“The Trump administration is committed to ushering in the Golden Age of American Rail with our revitalizations of New York Penn Station, Washington Union Station and beyond,” Duffy said in the statement on Monday.
