NY Installs New Archbishop in Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral

Ronald Hicks was installed as archbishop of New York on Friday, assuming leadership of one of the Roman Catholic Church’s most influential US archdioceses.

Celebrating a Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the prelate appointed by Pope Leo XIV used his homily to call for unity across cultures and generations.

“This is a call to be a missionary church, not a country club,” he said. “A club exists to serve its members. The church, on the other hand, exists to go out and serve all people.”
