Norman Podhoretz, Writer Who Mapped Path for Neocons, Dies at 95

Norman Podhoretz, the longtime editor of the American Jewish Committee’s magazine Commentary, whose journey away from the political left was a milestone in the neoconservative movement, has died. He was 95.

His son, John, the editor of Commentary, wrote on the publication’s website that Podhoretz died on Tuesday.

With his wife, writer Midge Decter, Podhoretz broke from his circle of New York intellectual friends to become a critic of the anti-war and counterculture movements of the 1960s.
