NYC’s Sole GOP District Lines Struck Down

A state court judge ruled that Rep. Nicole Malliotakis’ (R) district must be redrawn because it dilutes Black and Latino voters, Isaiah Poritz reports.
New York’s 11th congressional district, which covers all of Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn, is in violation of the state Constitution and must be redrawn by the state’s Independent Redistricting Commission by Feb. 6 for the 2026 midterm election, Judge Jeffrey H. Pearlman said.
