Judge Queries Blocked Maduro Legal Funds
Judge Alvin Hellerstein questioned why the US wasn’t allowing Venezuela to pay for Nicolás Maduro’s defense, but said he wouldn’t grant the ousted Venezuelan leader’s request to toss the case over it.
The US has said that letting Venezuelan government funds go to Maduro’s lawyer, Barry Pollack, would undermine sanctions against the South American country, but Hellerstein sounded skeptical.
