Luigi Mangione wanted to spark “revolutionary change” by killing UnitedHealth Group executive Brian Thompson and said the victim “had it coming,” New York prosecutors said Wednesday, offering a glimpse into their high-profile case against the 27-year-old defendant.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg defended his office’s terrorism charge as Mangione seeks to have it tossed. The charge is merited because Mangione’s acts were ideological, Bragg’s office said in papers filed with a Manhattan trial court.
Mangione told the FBI in a letter that Thompson was a “parasite” and “mafioso” and expressed no remorse, the papers said.
