VC dudes are throwing down to keep Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) from approving restrictions on artificial intelligence.
They’re dumping $41,250 per month on four lobbying firms — huge by Albany standards — to kill a bipartisan measure (S.B. 6953B) aimed at keeping the most advanced systems from killing us all with cyberattacks and bioweapons. Developers have to make safety plans with the aim of preventing “critical harm,” defined as incidents that involve at least $1 billion in damage or the death or serious injury of 100 or more people.
