A runway at New York’s LaGuardia Airport will remain closed through early Saturday morning, risking more delays as the busy Memorial Day travel weekend begins.
Runway 4/22 will now be closed until 6 a.m. local time on May 23 after inspections on Thursday found “possible areas of concern” that were proactively repaired, the airport said in a social media post. Although the airport remains open, the runway will remain shut to allow crews to conduct additional checks “out of an abundance of caution,” LaGuardia said.
