Justices Grant Review of Anti-Abortion Pregnancy Center Suit (2)

The US Supreme Court will review a New Jersey anti-abortion pregnancy center’s suit over a subpoena issued by state Attorney General Matthew Platkin (D) while investigating possibly illegal activities, the top court said Monday.

First Choice Women’s Resource Centers Inc. sought review of a US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit decision affirming the suit’s dismissal because it wasn’t “ripe.” The center hadn’t yet suffered any harm due to the civil investigatory subpoena because litigation over its enforceability is still winding its way through New Jersey’s court system, the appeals court said.
