A federal judge signaled Northern District US Attorney John Sarcone acted beyond his authority when he subpoenaed Attorney General Letitia James, setting up another potential loss for the Trump administration’s unusual appointment process.

Judge Lorna G. Schofield appeared to be pondering the remedy, saying disqualifying Sarcone altogether could fix the issue while allowing him to remain in a diminished role “wouldn’t accomplish much,” my colleague Beth Wang reports.
