Halmar-Skanska Lead Penn Station Rehabilitation Effort (1)

Halmar and Skanska, a co-venture dubbed the Penn Transformation Partners, will serve as the master developer on renovating New York’s Penn Station, the busiest passenger-rail hub in the US.

Amtrak, which owns Penn Station and is overseeing the project, announced the selection Wednesday. The Halmar-Skanska consortium beat out two other teams led by Macquarie and Fengate to design and build the major project. Officials anticipate breaking ground by the end of 2027.

US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Tuesday during a Congressional hearing that the federal government would direct $8 billion to transform Penn Station.
