Funding’s running out for federal courts in New York and around the country, leaving a host of questions about how they’ll function as the government shutdown enters a critical period.
Furlough notices for federal courts will be handed out around the country on Monday, per a memo from Administrative Office of the US Courts Director Robert Conrad. Funds slated to keep the court up and running ran out Friday, and the judiciary “will have no funding to incur obligations or make payments for most activities” now that we’re on to “phase 2" of the shutdown, the memo says.
