Cornell Warns ‘Urgent Action’ Needed as Trump Cuts Hit Finances

Cornell University signaled more job cuts are coming as it seeks to rethink its finances amid a range of pressures including the Trump administration’s attack on research funding at US colleges.

The school needs immediate spending reductions and a long-term restructuring, President Michael Kotlikoff and other Cornell leaders said in a statement Friday. Some budget cuts are already underway and the impact from the broader financial revamp will begin taking effect late in the current calendar year as Cornell seeks “new efficiencies.”
