Brad Lander Awaits Verdict Today

Ex-New York City Comptroller Brad Lander will learn this morning whether he’s guilty of obstruction for being part of a protest against immigration detention facilities, my colleague Chris Dolmetsch reports, in an unusual trial with political implications.

Federal immigration officers arrested Lander last year as he and others allegedly blocked a bank of elevators at 26 Federal Plaza in an attempt to inspect detention facilities at the building. Democrats have criticized them as inhumane.
