Surrounded by Manhattan courthouses, they vented their ire at Skadden.

The “Rule of Law” rally Thursday was meant to show a united front among attorneys concerned about the Trump administration—but it underscored a growing gap between Big Law and the rest of the New York legal community.

“What these firms have done is a betrayal of what we stand for,” David O’Keefe, a retired Manhattan Assistant District Attorney, told me at the event. O’Keefe arrived in a crisp suit and sunglasses—holding a sign reading: “Hey Skadden, I found your spine in the trash.”
