Bank Subpoena in Superyacht Sale Dispute Queried by 2nd Circuit

Second Circuit judges appeared disinclined to let the daughter of a Russian oligarch obtain the financial records of Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne in the Russian woman’s bid to claim the Alfa Nero superyacht.

The three-judge US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit panel wrestled with whether the records sought on Browne and other Antiguan officials were relevant to Yulia Gurieva-Motlokhov’s overseas challenge to Antigua’s sale of the yacht. The arguments on Wednesday lasted nearly an hour and seemed to divide the panel.
