RingCentral’s Fake Online Review Claims Advance Against Nextiva

Nextiva Inc. must face trade libel, tortious interference, and unfair competition claims for allegedly blasting RingCentral Inc. with fake bad reviews online, but its parent company UnitedWeb Inc. is off the hook for now, a San Francisco federal judge ruled.

The lawsuit accuses Nextiva, a telecom, of fabricating web domains and customers to drive business away from rival RingCentral through specific, plausible negative comments on popular review platforms. It was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
