The European Union’s antitrust commissioner vowed to take “seriously” Spotify Technology SA’s allegations that Apple Inc. is unfairly squeezing rival music streaming services.
Margrethe Vestager said on March 14 that her team “will start looking” at a complaint filed by Spotify this week. The Stockholm-based company called on her to probe the “untenable” situation created by Apple which it said is imposing ever-changing rules and a 30 percent tax for apps that compete with Apple Music.
