The White House said it was withholding judgment on a proposal by United Airlines Holdings Inc. to merge with rival American Airlines Group Inc., a tie-up that would raise significant antitrust concerns.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Wednesday that administration officials are aware of the proposition but that President Donald Trump hasn’t taken a position on it.

“I know it’s an idea that has been proposed by private industry, but it’s not something the president or the White House have an opinion on or are weighing in on at this time,” she said at a press briefing. ...
