Vista Buys Petronas Oil Stake in $1.5 Billion Argentina Deal (2)

Vista Energy, the second-biggest crude producer in Argentina’s burgeoning Vaca Muerta shale patch, has bought Petronas’ 50% stake in an oil field there for about $1.5 billion.

Vista will pay $900 million in cash now for the acquisition in the Amarga Chica area of the basin, a third of which is funded with a bank loan from Banco Santander SA. Petronas will also receive about a 7% stake in Vista, worth some $300 million. Vista will pay the remaining amount in two installments in 2029 and 2030.
