A concentration in the U.S. apparel market was cleared on Aug. 30 after an examination by the European Commission.
Under the transaction, VF Corp., based in Greensboro, N.C., will acquire Timberland, based in Stratham, N.H. VF Corp. is a worldwide designer, developer, and distributor of branded lifestyle apparel and related goods through a number of consumer brands such as “The North Face”; “Lee”; “Wrangler”; “Reef”; “Vans”; and “Napapijri”. Timberland is a designer, developer, and marketer of premium quality footwear, apparel, and accessories for men, women, and children. The commission reviewed the acquisition under the simplified merger review procedure.
