TPG Is Said to Buy Global Music Data Platform Musixmatch

Private equity firm TPG has purchased a controlling stake in Italy’s soon-to-be-Unicorn Musixmatch, the world’s largest lyrics metadata collection provider, according to people familiar with the matter.

The deal will be announced as soon as July 27 and no price will be disclosed, the people said, asking not to be named since the agreement isn’t public. TPG is making its investment through TPG Growth, the firm’s middle-market and growth equity platform, they said.

Representatives for Musixmatch and TPG declined to comment.
