Thyssenkrupp Examining ‘All Options’ for Naval Unit, FAS Reports

Thyssenkrupp AG is considering “all options” for its shipbuilding and marine technologies business, including a possible spinoff, Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung reported.

The German engineering company wants to make Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems “independent and develop it further,” the unit’s Chief Executive Officer Oliver Burkhard told the newspaper.

Marine Systems and Thyssenkrupp’s steel unit each require investment in the coming years, according to Burkhard, who said achieving both under the current structure would not work.

Thyssenkrupp is expected to start a bidding contest for Marine Systems after Easter, with private equity firms among interested parties, the Financial Times reported last week.
