Telecom Italia CEO Defeats Investors’ Attempt to Oust Him

Telecom Italia SpA’s chief executive officer defeated a group of shareholders’ attempt to unseat him at the phone carrier’s annual general meeting, according to people familiar with the matter, as the company’s largest investor abstained in a vote.

Investors backed CEO Pietro Labriola and his slate of candidates for the board, the people said, asking not to be named because the results aren’t yet public. Telecom Italia’s largest investor, French media conglomerate Vivendi SE, abstained.
