Somfy’s Majority Shareholder Makes Bid for Rest of Company (1)

France’s Despature family is offering to take Paris-listed building-products company Somfy SA private.

The family, with a controlling stake, is bidding €143 euros ($150) a share for the stock it doesn’t hold, the French market regulator said Tuesday. That offer represents a premium of about 20% to Friday’s closing price.

A deal would allow the family to take advantage of a 33% drop in the value of Somfy’s shares over the past year. Bloomberg reported on Monday that the Despature family was exploring a bid to buy out minority shareholders.
