The software sector is heating up as a hunting ground for private equity firms looking to put cash to work and investors are betting there will be more takeovers in coming months, bolstering stock prices at a rocky time for the sector.
Last week alone, there were three private equity deals for software makers worth a combined $19 billion: Qualtrics International Inc., SurveyMonkey owner Momentive Global Inc. and Cvent Holding Corp. That makes eight private equity takeovers worth more than $1 billion announced in the past six months, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
