SK Hynix to Buy $8 Billion of Top-End ASML Chipmaking Gear (1)

SK Hynix Inc. plans to spend 11.9 trillion won ($7.9 billion) on cutting-edge extreme ultraviolet lithography chipmaking tools from ASML Holding NV, deepening a push into next-generation memory as demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure grows.

The deal is valid through 2027, SK Hynix said in a regulatory filing Tuesday. It marks one of the largest of its kind, underscoring how chipmakers are racing to secure the EUV gear essential to mass-producing the world’s most sophisticated semiconductors. A spokesperson for ASML declined to comment.
