Russia’s Rosatom Acquires License for Mali Lithium Project

Mali’s military leadership paved the way for Russia’s state nuclear company Rosatom Corp. to develop lithium resources in the country.

Mali’s government this week approved the transfer of Mali-based mining company Moketi Mining SARL’s Bougoula lithium permit to Rosatom subsidiary Uranium One Group, Mali’s mining ministry said in a statement on its official Facebook page on Saturday.

The agreement will allow for Uranium One, which manages Rosatom’s uranium assets outside Russia, to carry out exploration work at an area covering 200 square kilometers (77 square miles) in Mali’s southern Bougouni region for a period of three years, according to ...
