Phillips 66 Seeks Sale of Struggling Refinery Near New Orleans

Phillips 66 is seeking to sell its Alliance oil refinery near New Orleans, which has struggled with unplanned shutdowns and the resurgence of Covid-19.

The Houston-based independent refiner said it’s seeking a buyer for its Alliance Refinery in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, because of “market conditions and the evolving energy landscape,” according to an emailed response to questions.

Several potential buyers have been in talks with Phillips 66, and the facility’s employees have been informed of the plan, people with knowledge of the negotiations said, asking not to be named because they aren’t authorized to speak for the company.
