Poland’s Orlen Gains Clout With Aramco Refinery and Supply Deal

Poland’s biggest fuel refiner and retailer PKN Orlen SA gained Saudi Aramco as an ally in its quest to become central Europe’s oil champion and curb its dependence on Russian crude.

The world’s biggest crude exporter will buy a stake in a refinery on the Baltic Sea coast as part of a 2.15 billion zloty ($540 million) deal with Orlen. It has also agreed to more than triple its supplies to Poland’s state-run company, eventually delivering as much as 337,000 barrels per day, or 45% of Orlen needs.
