NFL Agrees to Sell Media Assets to ESPN for Stake, Athletic Says

The National Football League agreed to sell many of its media assets to ESPN in exchange for stock in the sports-oriented division of Walt Disney Co., the Athletic reported, citing people briefed on the deal.

An official announcement is expected next week, the Athletic said, putting a “billion-dollar” value on the accord.

ESPN declined to comment, while the NFL didn’t immediately respond.
