Mubadala Takes Control of Burger King Brazil Operator Zamp

Mubadala Capital, a unit of the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund, took control of the firm that operates Burger King and Popeyes restaurants in Brazil after a drawn-out battle with smaller shareholders who ended up exiting their investments.

Mubadala now holds 38.5% of the company’s equity in common shares, according to a filing by Zamp, as the local franchise operator is known. Mudabala’s goal is “to contribute to the development and execution” of Zamp’s long-term growth strategies, according to a letter.
