Mizuho Private Equity Banker Gopal Tampi Is Said to Depart Firm

Gopal Tampi, a managing director within Mizuho Financial Group Inc.’s financial sponsors investment banking team, has left the firm to pursue another opportunity, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

New York-based Tampi and a Mizuho spokesman declined to comment.

With a mandate to cover private equity firms and provide acquisition financing for leveraged buyouts, Tampi joined Mizuho in 2015. He has held roles at Nomura Holdings Inc., Morgan Stanley and UBS AG, his LinkedIn profile shows.

Earlier this month, Mizuho hired L.J. McKay from Bank of Montreal as a managing director within its financial sponsors team. ...
