I mean. You start a startup with a far-fetched idea like genetically engineering algae to produce clean renewable fuel. You go out to investors to raise money. You say “we are going to genetically engineer algae to produce clean renewable fuel, if we succeed we will make a bajillion dollars, you want in?” The investors think that sounds cool, because it does.
