Lufthansa, ITA Offer to Give Up Slots At Linate, Corriere Says

Deutsche Lufthansa AG and ITA Airways are proposing to give up 22 slots at Milan’s Linate airport in an effort to appease regulators, the Corriere della Sera reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The offer will improve upon previous commitments and attempt to address European Union antitrust concerns over Lufthansa’s planned €325 million ($348 million) investment in the Italian carrier. Each company would release 11 slots.

The two airlines are also in “advanced” negotiations with easyJet about the UK low-cost carrier taking over some of the slots, including the Milan-Brussels route, the Italian newspaper said.
