Lazard Appoints Orszag to Chair Board as Ken Jacobs Steps Back

Lazard Inc.’s chief executive officer is stepping up to lead the board of the storied investment bank as predecessor Ken Jacobs takes a quieter role after more than three decades at the firm.

Peter Orszag has been appointed chairman of the company’s board effective Jan. 1, while board director and former PayPal Holdings Inc. CEO Dan Schulman becomes its lead independent director, according to a statement from Lazard on Monday.

Schulman replaces Richard Parsons, the former Time Warner Inc. boss and Citigroup Inc. chairman, who will leave the board in the spring at the end of his term.
