Kentucky Downs Ex-Owners Stiffed After Racetrack Sale, Suit Says

The ex-owners of the Kentucky Downs racetrack filed suit in Delaware against the track’s purchasers, claiming they’re refusing to turn over part of the deal price set aside to cover a potential court ruling striking down gambling on “historical horse racing,” which resembles slot machine betting.

The sale agreement requires the new owners to turn over the unspecified “holdback” amount by March 8, except in the event of a “non-appealable unfavorable ruling” against HHR betting, according to the complaint made public Friday in Delaware Chancery Court.
