Japan Food Delivery App Demae-Can Jumps on Uber Eats Bid Report

Japanese food delivery service Demae-Can Co. surged after a report it was considering a takeover bid for Uber Technologies Inc.’s Japanese meal delivery operations.

Demae-Can and Uber Eats had offered to buy each other in the past, TV Tokyo reported, and while those talks had not advanced, Demae-Can was considering another bid, the report said.

Demae-Can flatly denied the reports in a statement. But a spokeswoman for the company confirmed that there had been merger discussions in the past. There are no such talks at present, the spokeswoman said, asking not to be named due to company policy. Uber ...
