Italy Weighs Moves to Control Telecom Italia Subsea Cable Unit

Italy is reviewing options for gaining control of a key Telecom Italia SpA unit which manages subsea cables between Italy, the US and Israel, people familiar with the matter said.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’sgovernment is looking at how it could take control of the Telecom Italia Sparkle business as part of a bigger deal that would see the ex-monopolist sell its network business to KKR & Co., said the people, who are familiar with discussions within the premier’s office and who asked not to be named as the matter is not public.
